The sixth annual Seniors’ Showcase and Information Fair gets underway in Belleville on Wednesday.
The show is dedicated to providing information and a little entertainment so that senior citizens can be more informed and enjoy their community.
There will be 70 exhibitors with a long line of booths to check out.
The event is held at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre and spokesperson Karen Wiechenthal says the idea is to let the people know what is available for them, even information about their taxes.
There will be seminars on a number of issues, including elder abuse, fall prevention, and travel tips.
The Ontario Ministry of Finance will have a presentation on Ontario credits and benefits for seniors.
Fitness demonstrations include chair yoga, stretch and strengthen, and diabetic exercising.
The sessions are 15 or 30 minutes in length.
Wiechenthal says 700 people attended the Showcase last year.
It begins at 10 a.m., is free, and people can bring a donation to the Gleaners Food bank if they wish.
It wraps up with a fashion show at 1:30 p.m.
