A Belleville resident is hoping her scary experience at a Prince Edward County beach last weekend might serve as a warning to others, about the flooding conditions around area waterways.
Tina Sawicki is an experienced hiker and was walking with her dog along North Beach last Friday, when her foot began sinking into the sand.
Sawicki tells Quinte News, she was walking along what seemed to be a dry patch of sand, on the south side of the beach.
Sawicki tells Quinte News, people really do need to be careful, since many frequently walk alone along the beach.
Sawicki says the incident left her with some injured muscles, but she’s recovering now.
Numerous environmental agencies and municipal governments have put out warnings about conditions around area shorelines, but Sawicki feels people need to take note of the deteriorating conditions of local beaches as well.
