If you’re a cheese lover or culinary adventurer than you are going to want to check out the biggest cheese show in Canada next weekend.
The seventh annual Great Canadian Cheese Festival returns to the Picton Fairgrounds on June 3rd and 4th giving cheese lovers the opportunity to sample and purchase 400 foods and beverages including 150 different cheeses made by artisan producers from coast to coast.
Georgs Kolesnikovs, festival founder and director, appeared on 800AM CJBQ’s The Lorne Brooker Show Friday morning.
He said cheese makers, specialty food producers, small-batch wineries, craft breweries, cideries and vendors have reserved over 100 booths making it one of the biggest artisan food markets in Ontario.
Festival goers will also have the opportunity to take part in informative cheese seminars presented by Vanessa Simmons of Savvy Company, one of Canada’s best-known cheese sommeliers. There will be a Raw-Milk Cheese Appreciation Day on Sunday and Cheese Awards on Saturday with cheese samples for the first 1,000 tickets holders on both days. Local VQA wine and cider will be available for purchase by the bottle or case to those 19 years of age and older.
Kolesnikovs added the event has something for the whole family including live music and a dairy farm with animals and displays.

New this year is a food court featuring J.K. Fries and braised-beef poutine from Jamie Kennedy Kitchens, burgers from the Burger Revolution food truck and smoked-buffalo meat sandwiches from the Ontario Water Buffalo Company.
The event runs from 11 a.m to 4 p.m. both June 3 and 4.
