It’s lucky no one was hurt after someone tried to get away from Belleville police officers last night (Monday).
A downtown Belleville bar called police about an unruly customer who’d driven away in an SUV.
Officers located the vehicle and tried to stop it but the driver sped off, and police stopped the chase on Dundas East.
Police then observed the SUV sideswiping a three wheel motorcycle on Point Anne Road, but the bike driver managed to avoid injury.
Shortly after that, at 10 o’clock, an Airport Parkway resident told police someone had driven through a fence into a field.
It was there that officers arrested a 57 year old Shannonville man. He was charged with impaired driving, refusing to provide a breath sample, flight from police, and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
He has a bail hearing today.
