UPDATE @ 1:20 p.m.: A Belleville city official tells Quinte News about 100 litres of fuel spilled into a catch basin at Bell Boulevard and North Front Street, around noon today.
Belleville firefighters, police and public works crews, responded to the scene after the spill, believed to be caused by a pump malfunction at a gas station there and workers were able to put environmental booms in place to contain the spill.
Lane reductions are in place and Drain-All Ltd. out of Napanee has been called in to flush out the basin and clean up the area.
The Ministry of Environment has also been notified, but there’s no word on when the clean-up will be complete and traffic restrictions will be lifted.

UPDATE @ 1:00 p.m.: Belleville Police say drivers should “expect long delays for the next several hours” due to the fuel spill at a Bell Boulevard and North Front Street gas station.
There has been no update on what led to the spill or if there are any environmental implications to be aware of.
The BPS is advising drivers to take alternate routes until the situation is resolved.
