The unemployment rate in our part of Ontario continues to be low.
According to Statistics Canada, the economic region which includes the Quinte area, had an unemployment rate of 5.8 % last month.
A year ago in April, the rate was much higher, at 7.7%.
Meanwhile, Ontario’s unemployment rate last month was the lowest it’s been in 16 years, at 5.8%.
Across Canada, the rate was also low, at 6.5%.
