A well known police-run fundraising effort is shifting gears this year.
The officers behind the Pedal for Hope campaign are changing the name of the program to Give Where You Live, to better reflect the locally-based fundraising efforts by municipal police and OPP officers in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties.
Belleville Police Constable Jeremy Ashley tells Quinte News funds raised this year will go to support Camp Trillium’s Our Island, a camp for kids with cancer, located just off the shore of Wellington.
And Ashley says, despite the name change, officers will still be making plenty of visits to students across Hastings and Prince Edward Counties, but the bike ride visits will happen in the fall.
He says the beneficiary of the funds will likely change every couple of years, as the program looks for new partners.
Dates of when Give Where You Live will be at each school should be finalized in September.
