While the Trenton Golden Hawks prepare for the National RBC Cup, the Wellington Dukes are preparing for next season.
Campbellford native Colin Doyle has been named captain of the Dukes and Mitch Martan has been named an alternate. Doyle turns 19 on Friday. He’s a graduate of the Quinte Red Devils and Campbellford Rebels and has just completed his second season with Wellington. Dukes coach and general manager Marty Abrams says Doyle’s work ethic, determination and personality makes him a natural leader. Doyle is coming off a 46 point season including 32 assists.
Martan joined Wellington from the Kelowna Warriors of the B.C. Hockey League mid way through the season. He scored 17 points in 29 regular season games before leading the Dukes with 9 goals in the playoffs. Martan has an NCAA Division 1 commitment to attend Boston College for the 2018-19 season.
