Housing speculators are buying up as many as 10 houses at a time in the Belleville-Trenton area, affecting local prices in a good and not-so-good way.
The spike in the housing market, with high-priced sales in the Toronto area, is sending people migrating down highway 401.
Manager of Royal LePage ProAlliance Realty, Jeff Nelles, says local home builders have come to the end of their ability to provide new houses.

He says realtors are “pulling their hair out” working with a buyer who has put an offer on a property when someone has offered $60,000 over price.

Nelles says the Quinte area and Northumberland are in the same boat being within a couple of hours of Toronto.
