A flag that was flown at Belleville City Hall, during a vigil in January of this year has been presented to a Quebec MP on Parliament Hill.
Bay of Quinte MP Neil Ellis presented the flag to Louis-Hebert MP Joel Lightbound in Ottawa today, as a sign of the city’s support, following a shooting at a mosque in that riding earlier this year.
The flag was flown during the Belleville Inclusion Committee’s vigil, in support of the victims of that attack and the muslim community as a whole.
City representatives that made the trip to present the flag included Mayor Taso Christopher, councillors Garnet Thompson and Edgerton Boyce, as well as Dr. Aruna Alexander, Ruth Ingersoll and Imam Mohammad Saleh.
