Redevelopment is continuing at the old Zellers plaza on Bell Boulevard and more information is coming out about what types of businesses will be located there.
Quinte News has learned that along with Rhino Sports and Play, which has installed an ice rink and will officially open soon, the main building on the property will house at least four other businesses.
According to a spokesperson with the company that owns the property, those include a Planet Fitness gym, Polish Day Spa, Talize thrift shop and a hair cutting shop, tailored to children.
The plaza will also get a stand-alone Popeye’s Chicken restaurant, to be built behind Panera Bread, which has been open for some time.
The spokesperson tells us there are also plans to build another three-unit pad on the property, but wouldn’t go into details about who those tenants are.
There had been a sign for Kelsey’s looking for a franchisee on the property recently and plans obtained by Quinte News also show designs for the addition of a potential oil change shop.
As far as timelines go, Planet Fitness is expected to start a marketing campaign, with membership sales in a temporary site, within the next month or so, while Talize isn’t expected to be open until November.
The spokesman says Popeye’s will take some time because it’s a new build and couldn’t give specifics on when the others would be opening their doors.
