OPP would like to remind the public that an unlocked car door or an open window is an invitation to thieves.
Over the past week officers from the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to several calls regarding vehicles being entered in Trenton. In most instances property was also taken from the unlocked vehicles.
The “Lock It or Lose It” program is designed to prevent thefts from vehicles by educating drivers to always:
Roll up their vehicles’ windows;
Keep valuables out of sight;
Lock their doors; and
Pocket their keys.
The key to protecting your vehicle is in your hands. Keep yourself from becoming an easy target by properly securing your vehicle. Remember: Lock It or Lose It!
