The province is moving ahead with allowing second units in houses despite municipal concerns.
The province is expected to hand down its decision later this year to allow the second units within single detached, semi-detached and row houses.
A maximum of one parking space would be required.

Bovay says the city also has parking concerns, since many houses already have two cars.
The second units would only require a building permit without any conditions of zoning.
The Planning Advisory Committee is recommending that city council have staff prepare official plan policies permitting the second units since the provincial ruling is expected by fall.
