A local construction firm will do some work on a busy road in Wellington.
Prince Edward County Council’s Committee of the Whole approved the tender to reconstruct part of Belleville Street in Wellington to McInroy-Maines Construction.
The company’s bid of just over $1,200,000 was the lowest of 8 compared.
Meanwhile, Prince Edward County Council cost county taxpayers $376,000 in pay and expenses last year.
The highest earner on council was Mayor Robert Quaiff, who received just over $47,000. That included a $38,000 salary and almost $8,000 in expenses.
All councillors are paid almost $19,000. When board/committee remuneration and expenses are added, the highest earners were Janice Maynard at close to $26,000 and Bill Roberts at over $24,000.
Treat Hull, Lenny Epstein, and Jamie Forrester did not claim any mileage or other expenses last year.
