Fees to dock for the season, or for the night, at marinas and harbours in Prince Edward County will be going up.
Council’s Committee of the Whole has voted to significantly boost fees for launching and docking to ease the pain on residential taxpayers in the county.
It’s projected taxpayers will subsidize the marinas to the tune of $170,000 this year.
The fee increases will be phased in over 3 years, and will close the revenue gap, but not eliminate it.

Councillor Jamie Forrester, a campground operator, said a private marina operator couldn’t survive on the current rates because they were much too low.
Quinte West council is discussing a $140,000 subsidy for its new marina.
