The Belleville Fire Department has received a sizeable donation to assist with the purchase of equipment.
On Wednesday, Deputy Fire Chief Ray Ellis accepted a $10,000 donation from Enbridge to assist with the purchase a new 6’ x 10’ enclosed trailer. It will be a dedicated water source unit which will house the department’s portable water pumps, hard suction hose, ice augers and supply hose. The trailer will also be equipped with emergency and scene lights. Water source is an integral part of rural firefighting, especially when fires are encountered in the outer perimeters of the area where it becomes more difficult to shuttle water.
The funds were provided as part of Enbridge’s Safe Community Program which provides financial support to first responders and safety driven organizations to acquire new equipment, obtain professional training or deliver educational programs. The program has provided approximately $9.3 million in funding to organizations across North America since its inception in 2002.
