There’s a way to go in the series but the Newmarket Hurricanes are making big news so far in the playoffs. And goaltender Fraser Kirk is the reason.
Despite being outshot 39-25, Newmarket defeated Trenton 3-2 to take a 2-1 lead in their OJHL quarter final. Kirk has a 1.67 goals against and .951 save percentage in the three games, all decided by one goal.
Josh Allan and Michael Silveri scored for the G-Hawks. Silveri says they had their chances.
Golden Hawks Coach and General Manager Jerome Dupont reacted to his team’s second loss at home in the series.
Game 4 is in Newmarket tomorrow night and CJBQ will have the broadcast at 7:20.
In Whitby last night, the Fury were 3 for 6 on the power play to beat the Wellington Dukes 4-1. Coach and General Manager Marty Abrams says that was the difference.
The Dukes were 0 for 7 with the advantage. Brayden Stortz scored the lone Wellington goal.
The Dukes still hold a 2-1 lead in the series and host game 4 tomorrow night at 7:30.
