A video showing a confrontation between a pedestrian and what appears to be a Belleville snow plow driver has gone viral.
The video, posted in November (2016), starts off with a male shouting at a City of Belleville plow driver, “Look at him trying to run me over”. From there you see the plow inch forward slightly, with the man then shouting, “He hit me, he just hit me with his plow”.
From there, you then see the driver wave over the pedestrian, who asks the plow operator, “What, did you want to say something to the camera?”.
The driver then leans out the window of the truck, swinging in the direction of the male, The video then goes blurry and the video stops. It is not known whether the driver hits the man, or simply strikes the camera (or phone).
Reports on social media report that the driver was fired by the city, however no official confirmation has come to that effect.
Quinte News reached out to Manager of Human Resources Tim Osborne, who tells us that the driver has filed a grievance and there will be an upcoming arbitration hearing. Osborne says he cannot comment further on the discussions.
The video has received national and international views, which are now in the hundreds of thousands and growing every minute. Many of the comments from viewers are split, however there is a large show of support for the driver.
NOTE: The video above is the exact video taken, however due to swearing in the original video, two quick portions of audio were deleted. The video was posted by user Belleville Drivers, but that individual says they were not the person involved.
