Ontario’s corrections ministry is launching a pair of inquests into inmate deaths at Warkworth Institution.
On March 8th, a one-day inquest will be held into the death of 42 year-old Richard MacKenzie, who died at the prison on June 18, 2014.
Eight witnesses are expected to be called.
Then on March 9th and 10th a two-day inquest will look into the death of 31 year-old Jordy MacKay, who died at Warkworth on August 16 2015.
Seven witnesses are expected to be called during those proceedings.
Dr. Gordon Wyatt will preside as the inquest coroner on both cases, with Julie Ann Barrett as his council.
The inquests aim to examine the circumstances of both deaths and make suggestions on how to prevent similar incidents.
