The City of Belleville’s population grew at a percentage well below the 5 percent national and 4.6 percent provincial averages from 2011 to 2016.
In 2016, Belleville’s population was 50,716, up just 2.6 percent from 2011.
Growth in Quinte West was slower, up just 1.1 percent, with the population going from 43,086 to 43,577 people last year.
Brighton enjoyed the greatest growth in population on a percentage basis, going up by 8.4 percent to 11,844.
Centre Hastings enjoyed decent growth of 4.4 percent, going from 4,574 people up to 4,774.
Meanwhile, Prince Edward County and Deseronto both saw decreases in population in 2016 from 2011.
The County’s population dropped 2.1 percent to 24,735, while Deseronto’s was 3.3 percent lower, at 1,774.
Also losing people were Stirling-Rawdon and Marmora and Lake.
Stirling-Rawdon’s population dropped 1.9 percent, to 4,882 from 4,978 in 2011.
In Marmora and Lake, there 3,953 people living there last year, down 3 percent from 2011.
