Fire gutted a house in Shannonville overnight (Saturday).
The owners of a brick split-level house at 227 Beach Road went away yesterday and returned
home around 9 last night to find it up in flames.
Mohawk, Tyendinaga Township, and Belleville firefighters responded.
The house is still standing but the interior, including the garage, was completely destroyed.
About $250,000 damage was done.
Neighbouring homes were not damaged. No one was injured.
Mohawk Fire Chief Scott Maracle said the fire was not suspicious but the cause remains under investigation.
Firefighters remained on the scene until around 4 this morning (Sunday).
