It wasn’t as cold as it was last year, but there was definitely a biting windchill overnight as around 60
people slept outside in cardboard boxes in support of the local Canadian Mental Health Association.
It was the annual Sleep Out So Others Can Sleep In event at Belleville’s Market Square.
One of those braving the cold all night was Loyalist College Social Services Worker student Tammi Switzer who said the experience only made her want to help the unfortunate even more.
Executive Director of the local CMHA, Sandie Sidsworth was thrilled with this years event and the results.
$11,400 dollars was raised and it’s expected that after all of the pledges come in that total will go up to $13,000.
The goal was $10,000.
