Doctors in Prince Edward County apparently aren’t taking proposed cuts to their hospital sitting down….and, the Mayor appears ready to back them. Mayor Leo Finnegan telling a public meeting on green energy in Picton, last night, that local Doctors met yesterday…and, he’ll meet with them today. When Finnegan was asked if Prince Edward Memorial could break-off from QHC and go on its own…the Mayor said he didn’t know adding joining QHC in 1998 wasn’t and option…and breaking away would be up to the Minister of Health. Finnegan says the Picton Hospital has been a victim of geography. Last week, QHC officials presented options to reduce a multi-million deficit at its four hospital sites which included major cuts to Picton and Trenton hospitals.
