The United Way of Hastings and Prince Edward has come up short of its fundraising goal for this year.
The goal to fund over 40 agencies and around 100 programs was $2,153,600.
The final tally came in $153,600 short.
Judi Gilbert, Executive Director of the United Way, says there’s a lot of competition for charitable donations and the economy is tough.
The United Way cut its own operating costs, but the shortfall will mean less dollars to go around for the organizations receiving financial help.
The local United Way has missed its goal three times in past years.
The organization’s Achievement Celebration is being held Wednesday morning at the Greek Hall.
