There will be more discussion at Brighton council tonight on getting the municipality’s costs paid back after
winning decisions at Ontario Municipal Board hearings.
Council will discuss a motion from councillors Ostrander and Martinello that some form of indemnification clause be developed that could make it easier for the municipality to recover legal costs after being declared correct by the OMB.
Specifically, some on council are concerned with the thousands of dollars spent by taxpayers for OMB hearings on the Lakeside Landing subdivision and the proposed Mac’s Milk development.
The municipality came out on the winning side of both of those OMB hearings.
