Work on the front entrance of Belleville City Hall is going well according to city officials.
The city closed the front entrance in October to allow modifications to the elevator and expanded foyer footage to improve accessibility to city hall.
City council decided to lower the elevator to the entrance floor to meet provincial standards for accessibility.
Chief building officer Ted Marecek says it’s looking “fantastic.”
He says the general public has been gaining entrance on the building’s south side, through the basement, throughout the construction work.
Maracek says the project is on time and on budget, and will wrap up January 31.
Some changes were also made to the front service counter on the main floor.
The total cost for the two projects is $680,000.
The city had issued a list of optional sites for paying bills or accessing some services, without going to City Hall .
For instance, some bills can be paid at Belleville Water, Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre, and Public Works.
Some bills may also be paid online.
