Town Council in Deseronto wants to become aggressive in attracting new development.
Speaking to residents recently, Mayor Deseronto Norm Clark said he hopes to form a municipally operated development corporation.
Mayor Clark believes developers have been shying away from the town because of the ongoing, and now stalled, land claim negotiations between the Federal government and Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte.
The development corporation would act like a private company, but be run by Council as it’s board of directors. Talks are underway with both the Federal and Provincial governments, asking for money to get the corporation started.
