Prince Edward County Council received an update on the proposed closures for schools in the municipality.
At Tuesday night’s meeting, Mayor Robert Quaiff spoke to the proposal by the Hastings Prince Edward Public Board, which would see the closure of Pinecrest Memorial, Queen Elizabeth and Sophiasburgh Central, with students being transferred to Prince Edward Collegiate Institute in Picton.
Meantime, CML Snider and Kente Public would close and the board wants a new school built in Wellington.

Quaiff and the board are against the closures, however they agree they have very little jurisdiction over the decision.
The board is currently in a seven month review period, before final decisions are made.
