Quinte West OPP will merge 2 crime units into one in the spring.
Detachment Commander Inspector Christina Reive told the Quinte West Police Services
Board today (Monday) that the property crimes unit will merge with the drug squad in April.
Inspector Reive says the merger should lead to more efficient and effective policing.
Currently there are two officers dedicated to property crimes and one to drug investigations.
Meanwhile, a more dangerous form of a powerful opioid drug is finding its way into our area.
Quinte West OPP Detachment Commander, Inspector Christina Reive, says that officers are regularly stopping vehicles on the 401 and seizing the illegal drug Fentanyl which is causing a growing number of deaths by overdose.
Meanwhile, an even purer and deadlier form of Fentanyl, Carfentanyl is making headlines.
