The City of Quinte West is considering two more roundabouts to improve traffic flow.
Quinte West’s Public Works Committee has approved spending up to $50,000 on an engineering firm to provide preliminary designs for two roundabouts in downtown Trenton.
It’s proposed the roundabouts be built on Division Street, at the DJ MacDonald bridge, and on Division Street, at the intersection with Dundas West.
Mayor Jim Harrison says he likes roundabouts, but the city will be inviting the engineer to town to discuss roundabouts with the public.
If approved, the roundabouts would be built either next year or in 2018.
Meanwhile, all is well at Tremur Lake, the long existing small man-made lake at the intersection of Wooler and Telephone roads in Quinte West.
An engineering study done on the lake and its seasonal water levels have shown the recent repairs to the dam are working and there should be no need for further spending on flood control in the area.

Engineering consultants provided Quinte West’s Public Works Committee with a couple of estimates on flood control measures for Tremur Lake, with one costing $500,000 and the other costing $4.2 million.
The committee decided that the current dam system was working well, and no change was needed.
