Brighton homeowners will pay 3.6 per cent more in taxes this year for municipal services..
The Committee of the Whole approved an eleven-and-a-half-million dollar budget yesterday, up from 10.9-million dollars in 2008.
Chief Administrative Officer Gayle Frost says the 3.6 per cent tax increase, which doesn’t include Northumberland County and education taxes, will result in a 21 dollar increase for every 100-thousand dollars of residential assessment.
Brighton has a preliminary bill of 1.6-million dollars from the O-P-P, up by 200-thousand over last year, and council also has plans for some large road reconstruction projects in 2009.
