Officials with Quinte Conservation say the watershed continues to be under a Level 3 Low Water Condition and that could last right into the spring.
Spokesperson Jennifer May-Anderson tells Quinte News the watershed needs both stream flows and precipitation amounts to increase drastically, in order for the water condition level to change, but both of those numbers tend to drop as the temperature drops.
She says homeowners using wells may have trouble accessing water through the winter months and need to make preparations, as the warning could continue right through the winter.
She adds this year’s extended drought-like conditions have made things even more complicated than the last time a low water condition was issued, back in 2012, when our region got a large amount of fall rain.

May-Anderson added, the last time we were in a situation like this was in 2012, but things improved drastically before the winter, thanks to some heavy October rain.
