The former curator of the Art Gallery of Northumberland has received 2 years probation, 75 hours of community service and must pay back $11,300 to the gallery after pleading guilty to two counts of forgery and one count of fraud.
62 year old Dorette Carter, who is now ill and lives with a friend and a relative, was sentenced last week in a Cobourg courtroom.
Court heard that Carter illegally cut a cheque and forged a document without authorization to cover the cost of an art project at the Art Gallery of Northumberland.
A report in Northumberland News says Carter was curator at the gallery from 2000 to 2014. She was charged by police in the summer of 2014.
An investigation revealed Carter did not commit the crimes for personal gain.
