A Shannonville woman has pleaded guilty to three animal cruelty charges, after neglecting a pair of horses this past summer.
Catherine Lachappelle pleaded guilty on Monday to permitting distress, failing to provide adequate food and water and failing to provide medical attention.
The charges stemmed from a complaint about a 36 year-old mare and 18 year-old gelding which were extremely thin and living in poor conditions with no food or water, back in June of this year.
Lachappelle has been banned from owning livestock for 10 years and was placed on a two-year probation.
She surrendered the horses to the Ontario SPCA who provided veterinary attention.
The older animal has been re-homed while OSPCA staff are still trying to find a permanent home for the younger.
