Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison wants answers from the Ministry of Transportation after a costly underground watermain leak was discovered two weeks ago.
At Monday night’s council meeting mayor Harrison told the horseshoe a letter was sent to MTO because he’s thinks the damage could have been caused by construction work completed on the north side of the 401. The watermain delivers water to the Glen Miller area.
The underground work is expected to cost around $300,000 with a new section of pipe by-passing the leak so residents’ and business’ water supply will not be affected.
If all goes according to plan the work will be done by early December.
