It appears that talk of a one way street to downtown Belleville is going over like a lead balloon.
At the last Mayor’s Implementation Team meeting (October), members tossed around the idea of making Victoria Avenue between Pinnacle and Front Street one way, leading into the village.
Mayor Taso Christopher says this was something that downtown stakeholders would need to look at before moving past preliminary discussion.
One challenge announced was that with Campbell Street also being one way onto Front, the only exits would be either Pinnacle at Station, or Bridge Street. There would also be no easy way onto Moira Street West.
During a recent public meeting, every single attendee, including others who called in rejected the idea, saying it would create some logistical challenges.
