The United Way of Quinte is officially getting a name change next week.
Executive Director Judi Gilbert says due to the significant growth of the organization over the years, the local chapter will now be called the United Way of Hastings and Prince Edward.
An official unveiling ceremony will be held at 3:30 p.m. on November 16th, at the local United Way office.
The local United Way started up in May of 1958, known as the Community Chest, was renamed United Community Services of Belleville and District in 1968 and then renamed again to the United Way of Quinte, in 1992.
Gilbert says the name change sends a clear message to all stakeholders that the organization is focused on the entire region.
