Personnel living and working at CFB Trenton have a new place to grab a pint and a good conversation.
The new Earl of Bessborough Social house has officially opened, after a four-month renovation project by TV personality Damon Bennett and replaces the old Astra Lounge, which had been underutilized.
8 Wing Spokesperson Captain Julie Brunet tells Quinte News, the idea came from Base Commander Colonel Colin Keiver, who wanted to create more dialogue and communication between his soldiers.
Brunet adds the pub also features a replica of the CFB Trenton Memorial Gates, donated by Kennametal Stellite of Belleville and is a great place for soldiers to gather, grab a drink and share some stories.
The pub is named after the 9th Earl of Bessborough, who laid the commemorative corner stone at 8 Wing, when the base opened in 1931.
