A steer on the loose caused what could have been a very serious accident on Highway 37 early this morning.
A small black Angus steer ran out onto the highway, north of Harmony Road, hitting the cab of a transport hauling two trailers at 2:45 a.m.
The truck driver veered to miss the steer and ended up rolling the rig onto its side and into a ditch.
The driver was not seriously hurt. The steer was killed.
While some fuel and oil leaked from the tractor, the trailers, which were filled with hazardous material in the form of alcohol and hydrochloric acid, did not leak.
Highway 37 is open to traffic, but there could be delays early this morning as clean up continues.
