Quinte West is grieving the loss of a popular past Warden of Northumberland County.
Matthew James “Jim” Quinn died peacefully on Sunday November 6 at his Trenton home at the age of 88.
He served in many capacities as Reeve, Deputy Reeve and councillor from the 1960s up until the early 1990s prior to amalgamation.
Deputy Mayor Jim Alyea remembered his friend and colleague as “a great guy.”
Quinn is survived by his wife Florence, their 11 children, 27 grandchildren and 13 great-grand children.
The family will receive friends at the Rushnell Funeral Centre at 60 Division Street in Trenton on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m.
A funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday, November 10 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment at Mount Calvary Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
