National Air Force Museum at CFB Trenton.
The National Air Force Museum at Trenton is taking a new step to help increase funding for its future.
The museum has announced it will begin charging entrance fees in the new year, for the first time since its opening 32 years ago in 1984.
Admission so far has been by donation.
Executive Director Chris Colton says expansion is necessary through the acquisition of new artifacts and aircraft, to create new aerospace educational opportunities for students, and prepare for the RCAF’s Centennial Celebration in 2024.
Colton says the museum is “breaking even right now with no additionaol funding for expanding and setting up displays.”
Beginning February 1 next year, admission will be: adults $10, seniors and students $8, children 6 to 12 years $5, and $25 for families up to five members.
The museum will continue to be free for members of the Canadian Forces.
It will also be free on special days including Family Day, Ad Astra Day and Remembrance Day.
The NAFMC Foundation membership gives members unlimited access to the museum.
