The City of Quinte West has some big events coming up and they want to be ready.
With the OJHL Showcase, the Dudley Hewitt Cup, home shows, and other events in mind, city officials met with architects and arena user groups to discuss a new media box and score clock for the Duncan McDonald Arena.
On Monday afternoon, Mayor Jim Harrison told the meeting that council is in favour of upgrades, if the price is right.
The proposal is to build the box, which could house television, radio, online, print and other journalists, along with a music system, a Public Address announcer box and room for score clock operators.
Manager of Buildings and Facilities Bob Forder says the box can be used by anyone who rents the facility.
It would be installed above the north east corner of the playing surface.
Architects are coming back to council with drawings and a price tag, before the end of 2016.
