The Trenton Golden Hawks displayed a new look in warm-ups then introduced a new goaltender for the game. And it was a solid debut for Joseph Murdaca who stopped 28 shots in Trenton’s 5-2 victory over the Burlington Cougars.
Murdaca joins Trenton from the OHL’s Mississauga Steelheads. Despite taking a 3-0 first period lead, Hawks Coach and General Manager Jerome Dupont didn’t like his team’s start.
Jordan Chard, Ben Scheel, Austin Tonkovich, Mac Lewis and Connor Quinn scored for Trenton. Rex Moe had 3 assists.
The G-Hawks wore special edition jerseys during warm-ups which were auctioned off in support of Hockey For Harambe and Wildlife Week. The initiative drew attention across the country including the Hockey Hall of Fame where defenceman Nick Boddy’s sweater will be displayed.
The Golden Hawks are home to the Aurora Tigers tomorrow night at 7:30.
