Some long-awaited road work is in line as Belleville considers its 2017 capital budget next week.
Recommendations before council include construction work on Mudcat Road.
The staff report says the primary concern is the first two kilometres west of Phillipston Road through low-lying swampy area.
However an investigation revealed problems for another three kilometres to Sanctuary Lane.
The project would involve widened lanes and asphalt at $1.8 million.
Another road project involves design work only, for Holmes Road from Dundas Street West to the end of the street.
Residents have petitioned the city to add a new sanitary sewer line to the street to do away with sewer tanks, also replacement of the watermain which has a history of breakdown.
This project includes complete reconstruction of the road network, new storm sewer, curbs and asphalt roadway.
The projected design cost is $100,000.
Belleville’s capital budget debate begins Tuesday morning.
