This is Child Abuse Prevention month and Wednesday is Go Purple Day.
On Wednesday, the campaign by the Highland Shores CAS and The Childrens Foundation is encouraging people to wear purple to highlight the ongoing problem of child abuse and neglect.
CAS executive director Mark Kartusch says some people are reluctant to call the agency about abuse, worried the child will be taken into custody.
Kartusch says he’s been handing out purple ribbons throughout the region.
