A pair of former teammates will play for Canada in just a few short weeks.
Hockey Canada has announced that Kingston Frontenacs forward Nathan Dunkley and Trenton Golden Hawks forward Dawson Baker are two of 66 players who will play for Canada in the Under-17 Hockey Challenge.
The tourney is in Sault Ste. Marie, with the first game on October 30, 2016.
There are eight teams in the tournament, including Canada Red, White and Black.
Dunkley is a Campbellford native and the first round selection of the Fronts in the most recent OHL Priority Selection, while Baker is from Baltimore (ON) and drafted and signed by the Sudbury Wolves.
Baker is also just one of six players (of 66) to play for Canada, while not playing in the Canadian Hockey League (CHL)
Baker tells Quinte News says his parents were extremely excited, and had a few tears. He says he is honoured and excited.
He says if he and Dunkley could get a chance to be on the same team, it would be incredible.
Former Belleville Bulls Assistant General Manager Barclay Branch assisted in the scouting process for Hockey Canada.
