In the past two years the Quinte Economic Development Commission has spent nearly a million dollars on training in the manufacturing industry.
The QEDC received a total of $828,000 from the Rural Economic Development, or RED program, which it distributed to various companies in the Quinte region for training of their present employees.
Executive director Chris King told the Commission Tuesday this was either in technology or soft skills.
A total of 37 companies took advantage of the program with 769 employees receiving training.
The RED program paid half the cost of the training.
