It appears a deal between the City of Belleville and the Belleville Ag Society for a portion of the fairgrounds property is close.
Chair of the Fairgrounds Negotiation Committee Councillor Jack Miller says nothing has been approved, however the two sides are putting the finishing touches on negotiations.
The city owns the land, however in 1954, the Ag Society was given a 99 year lease for the property, and the negotiation committee is working on buying out the lease for the property on the east side of Sidney Street.
Miller says the next step is to review the final draft, before taking it to the Ag Society and Belleville Council for final approval.
The Ag Society also owns five buildings on the east side of Sidney, which would become property of the city in the deal.
