The Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board says students in its area have largely maintained improvements made in provincial testing over recent years in reading and writing, but that math also remains a concern.
57% of grade three students and 40% of grade six students achieved the provincial standard in math testing.
Grade three math results have declined by 8% over the last five years.
Grade six numbers are down 13% in the same time frame.
Across Ontario, the numbers of students meeting the provincial standard in math have been on the decline over the past seven years.
In grade nine, 80% of academic students and 52% of applied students met the standard, both just a slight 1%t drop from last year.
In the grade 10 literacy test, 94% of academic and 56% of applied students were successful, both numbers above the provincial averages.
