Despite barely reaching last year’s fundraising goal, officials with the United Way of Quinte are trying to reach higher again.
Officials are hoping to raise $2,115,600 during this year’s campaign, to be spread across dozens of charitable and social organizations in the Quinte Region.
Executive Director Judi Gilbert tells Quinte News, even though they only surpassed last year’s total by less than $1,000, it was important to aim for more again this year.
Campaign Chair Rene Veillette of Hanon Systems Canada is encouraging everyone in the community, especially local businesses, to get involved.
Anyone interested in starting their own workplace campaign, making an individual donation, or getting involved in another way, can get in touch with the United Way of Quinte.
The campaign launch was held in conjunction with the United Way’s “Food Trucks United” event, featuring about a dozen food trucks from all over Ontario.
This year’s campaign will wrap up on New Year’s Eve, with the achievement gala to be held in early 2017.
